Margaret Lindsay Williams (1888–1960) was a Welsh artist who was commissioned to paint portraits of royalty and American presidents.[(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/yourpaintings/artists/margaret-lindsay-williams-12912 )〕] ==Biography== She was born in Cardiff, the elder of two daughters of Samuel A. Williams, a shipbroker of Barry Docks. For some years, from the age of 9, she lived in 9 Windsor Road, Barry. Wiliams studied at Cardiff Technical College, winning a gold medal for art and, from 1906, studied at the Royal Academy in London, where she won several prizes including a gold medal in 1911. 〔 She is best known as a portrait painter and was commissioned to paint portraits of Queen Alexandra, Queen Mary, the young Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret (presented to South Africa by a businessman in 1937), at least five portraits of the present Queen Elizabeth II, President Warren Harding, Henry Ford, and Field Marshal Slim. She always regarded Barry as her home, despite her work taking her to London. Her funeral took place in Windsor Road Congregational Church and she is buried in Barry Cemetery.
